Steps to follow before applying for a visa.

Note on Dependents: Generally, dependent children can only join a student if the student is enrolled in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program, a New Zealand Government-approved student exchange scheme, or holds a Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship.

Education Loan: Official sanction letter for a loan, primarily accepted from nationalized or multinational banks (e.g., Nepal SBI, Nabil Bank, Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited).
Scholarships/Sponsorship: Official letter confirming a grant from the New Zealand Government, Foreign Government, or an acceptable sponsor.
Financial Undertaking: A completed Financial Undertaking for a Student (INZ 1014) form from an acceptable third-party guarantor.
Financial Instrument Details
Bank Statement Hold Period: You must provide a complete bank transaction history covering a minimum of three months immediately preceding the visa application date.
Evidence Depth: The transaction history should show the source of funds. If large deposits are made recently, you must provide supporting evidence to explain the source (e.g., sale of an asset, transfer from another account, or business income).
Loan Details: Education loan sanction letters must detail the security provided, the moratorium period, interest payable, and the repayment schedule.
Currency: Funds must be converted to New Zealand Dollars (NZD) for assessment against the minimum living requirement on the day of application.
Financial Requirement Duration
Application Requirement: Funds must cover the full cost of the first course or first year of study (whichever is shorter), plus the minimum annual living cost (NZ$20,000), and the cost of outward travel (NZ$1,500 or a prepaid ticket).
Subsequent Years: A plan must be provided explaining how you will fund future years of study.
Required Evidence of Financial Support (Sponsorship)
Sponsor: Funds can be provided by the applicant, an acceptable sponsor (a friend or family member who is a New Zealand citizen or resident), or a guarantor/third party (for those outside New Zealand, using the Financial Undertaking form).
Sponsor Documentation: If a guarantor or sponsor is used, they must submit:

Evidence that they hold sufficient funds (e.g., recent bank statements).
Proof of their income source (tax returns, payslips, employment agreement) to prove their ability to genuinely support the student.

Applying for a Letter of Offer (Admission)

Certificates to Confirm Qualifications: Final completion certificates for high school, degree, or highest qualification achieved.

Once the Letter of Offer is accepted, these documents are required for pre-visa approval or final submission.
Payment of Tuition Deposit: Proof that the first year's tuition fee (or required deposit) has been paid to the provider (mandatory for some schools before issuing the final letter).
Offer of Place (Unconditional): The final letter from the school confirming your enrollment details, course length, and payment of fees.
Medical and Character Declaration: Initial declaration confirming good health and character.
List of Necessary Documents for Visa Application Lodgement (Online)
Completed Application Form: The correct Student Visa application form (online).
Passport: Original, valid passport (and copies of all stamped pages).
Photos: Two recent passport-sized photos meeting INZ specifications.
