Scholarships & funding guide
A plain-English starting point for finding scholarships, with links only to official sources.
How scholarships work
- Who decides: each scholarship is awarded by its own provider (a government, a university or a foundation). Uniaway does not award or decide any funding.
- Start early: many deadlines fall months before the course starts, sometimes before you have a university offer. Check the official page for current dates.
- Read the rules: eligibility often depends on your nationality, course level, subject and grades.
- Partial funding is common: many awards cover only part of tuition, so plan your budget for tuition, living costs and visa costs as well.
United Kingdom
- Chevening Scholarships: UK government scholarships for one-year master's courses, aimed at future leaders from eligible countries.
- Commonwealth Scholarships: Master's and PhD scholarships for students from eligible Commonwealth countries.

- Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters: EU-funded joint master's programmes studied across several countries, some with scholarships.

- DAAD scholarship database (Germany): Search German scholarships by subject, level and home country.

Check each university's own scholarships page
Most universities offer their own scholarships, bursaries or fee discounts for international students. Search the university's website for "international scholarships" and read the eligibility, amount and deadline on that page. Amounts and rules change every year, so this guide does not list figures.
Watch out for scams
Real scholarships do not ask you to pay a fee to apply or to "release" an award. If in doubt, check the provider's official website directly.
